chrisr8

is there a difference in taxation in Mauritius when you are a permanent resident through buying a property over 375k  vs  if you just get a premium visa and rent an apartment.

for both cases assuming you are more than 183 days in Mauritius and paying taxes fully in Mauritius.

Are you wanting to know whether there is tax relief when buying a home in Mauritius or, just comparing tax rate in the 2 scenarios you mention?

With the Premium Visa, you may be subject to double taxation depending on your fiscal jurisdiction.

The 183 days you mention is substantially more complex. You need to look at the Double Taxation Avoidance (DTA) treaties that Mauritius has with your fiscal jurisdiction, if any.

A complex issue, and you need to get it right from the outset.

Which country are you from?
