I am also in need of CoVid Insurance of $10,000 for entry into Vietnam.听

I just purchased a policy which will give me the Certificate for the same policy.

It was relatively inexpensive and I purchased it thru - Insuremytrip 1(800) 487-4722 USA number.

Ultimately the policy I wanted was - give me the $10,000 CoVid coverage to get into VN. Period. No additional: coverage such as accidental dismenmberment, etc鈥� just the 鈥渞equired鈥� basic CoVid coverage as required. With a certificate.听

They offer $25000 policy for me and my wife for approx $56 USD. Total. For two people. Ok it is more than the $10000 requied.

Now, i am flying/transiting / connecting thru YYZ. Canada. 听I assume the听airline ticket agents will request documents for travellers that includes this $10,000 CoVid insurance policy. Because it says so on their check list. They will require this per the documents they (Air Canada ticket agents) see on their list of docs to check.

Air Canada has a link to an official Vietnamese website which states the same听, 鈥渕ust have a $10,000 CoVid insurance鈥�.

Here is the problem. Per the Vietnamases Consulate in San Francisco, USA 听no proof of CoVid Insurance is needed to enter VN. Repeat, no proof of insurance is required. Twice the consulate advised me the same. They stated you can purchase it in VN for$45.

听I asked 鈥渨hat if I buy the policy here in USA鈥� their rely was, to the effect, 鈥� we cannot translate, this doc鈥�. Makes sense to me.

Bottom line to me is, aircarries here in USA / Canada are requiring this CoVid Insurance based off of a VN Gov website that is not current. We do not need this鈥�..but I / we should probably get this policy ( the cheapest you can ) for now.

My guess is, soon this requirement will be dropped. Til then, i guess get a cheap policy.

Regarding the person inquiring about the 77 year old(plus) policy, try the company i mentioned above鈥︹��or wait a month or so, because I feel this will be worked out soon.

Hope this helps, and I feel the 鈥減roof of $10,000 CoVid insurance鈥� is a remnant of past restrictions and should be removed. Most of us have insurance and can pay the cost of a minor quarantiine / medical treatment in VN. And i say that with all respect for those us of short on cash.听

I agree. On both the IATA and Vietnam Airlines sites there is no mention of travel insurance.

However, the official VN Government website (baochinphu.vn) says insurance is mandatory.

Google "Travel restrictions relaxed as Vietnam fully opens borders to foreign arrivals".

This update is dated 17/03/2022.

Unless there is a more recent update, I assume travel insurance is still required.

I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Sounds like a good deal to me for $56 USD for a couple. I am still looking for an insurance for my family too.听

If I may ask, when are you flying to ?听

I am flying from YYZ (Toronto) on May 31 with Air Canada.

I purchased my tickets online from Air Canada website and did not see anything they mentioned about the Covid-19 insurance or anything in it. I will still give them a call to find out just in case.

I guess we will find out soon if we need this insurance or not once we land and as the time passes by.

I flew into SGN on the 27th with Vietnam Airlines. They are very careful to meet all government requirements for each passenger and they did not ask about insurance. When I went through medical check they didn鈥檛 ask about insurance and immigration did not ask to see my insurance.听

There has to be something the VN government has put out that says no insurance is required because the airline didn鈥檛 ask.听

If the airline allows a passenger to come into the country without proper documentation they will be fined and they will have to pay for the airfare to remove the passenger who lacks proper documentation.听

There are Vietnam government regulations.

There are also individual airline regulations.

Sometimes the two are not the same, such as when an airline will require a through ticket, but the government of Vietnam doesn't.

In the end, the wise traveler really doesn't have any choice but to be well informed and to follow the regulations of the airlines.

Yes, I checked and it does say USD 10,000 insurance under mandatory health insurance.

From the USA, I'm probably going to fly Vietnam Airlines non-stop out of San Francisco.

That will avoid any conflicts with airlines or connecting countries, and of course, dodge any of the hideous layovers common to low priced business class fares.

Current non-stop business class fare is surprisingly close to the cost of a flight through Korea or Japan (鈧�57,562,000 VN膼/approximately $2,520.00 USD)

FYI, Vietnam Airlines does not show up in Google Flights searches.

For how long were you out of Vietnam? Things are finally settling down with COVID, I'm contemplating going back next winter. These are still tough times to travel!

USD$2,5000 is somewhat cheap for business class but not a cheap ticket, but I've seen prices recently and there's not much cheaper for straight flights.
