Moving to Malta

SouthLondon

Hi all,

I do not want to spend another dreary winter in the hellhole - London, rude people and bad weather. Haven't quite made my mind up where to relocate to over the recent years, it was Argentina, then Croatia, then New Zealand, then Saskatchewan, Georgia - Europe, Turkey, then Galicia - Spain. Then there is Malta, it was a British colony from 1800 - 1964, the last of the troups leaving Malta 1979. Malta has had a long association with Britain, it drives on the left, the bedford buses were introduced by the British, the red phone and pillar boxes and a cricket team who sometimes competes with Corfu. One slight drawback with Malta is that it's 'small', but you've got the weather. Did you know that's Malta's climate was voted the number 1 ideal climate in the world next to Gran Canaria.
It's part of the commonwealth and part of the EU now, and english and maltese being it's official languages. What's the chance of an ordinary working bloke like me who is a small plant fitter to get a job in Malta? I'm not an investor or rolling in it, just want to get out of Britain. Thanks

Hi

Important question have you ever been to Malta. We love living here but we know this is a place you seem to either love or hate! although the majority love it (we have lived in several place in Europe) If you are serious about living here you should come for a time to see if you like it.

Good luck

Plenty of plant that needs fixing in Malta, judging by the stuff I've seen.

Hi all,

No I haven't been to Malta yet, it appears to be the most crowded country in europe in an island roughly the size of the Isle of Wight with a population of 415,000. Those of you that have lived there long term, what's the average winter temperature? today here in London it was all over he place from 17c down to 10c with winds. I can imagine Malta can be an easy place to settle in, the fact that it's small and crowded with a low crime rate means that you'll be more familiar in the community. There is some exiting wildlife there though not as much as say Turkey, you have the chameleon, the beautiful wall lizards and occellated skinks, and the rare algerian whip snake and the beautiful leopard snake, all of Malta's snakes are harmless.
I've heard Malta has a high percentage of people with diabetes, I'm myself a diabetic.
What is the standard of healthcare in Malta? Does it have a tram service?
