Residence through yacht ownership

citygrrl33

I'm curious about the residence visa offered for buying a yacht (instead of a property on land). Has anyone done this? What is defined as a yacht? Is it the size of the boat, or the price?

Also interested in hearing from foreigners who have purchased property to live in or rent out in order to get residency. I will be visiting soon on a scouting trip.

Thanks!

@citygrrl33 For yacht I don't know anything, just regarding the property, you must know that you can be resident in Montenegro as owner without end in fact but the residency card is more convenient because she allows you to go outside of the country 90 days per year, if you do more, every year you must do a new residency card (it's not the end of the world).

Hi there,

To obtain residency through Yacht ownership, you must be able to provide a signed contract of mooring with one of the recognised Montenegrin Marinas. There is not specific definition of a yacht, but I guess a rib would not apply for example... Marinas like Porto Montenegro in Tivat, do not have berths for smaller yachts (under 25m if I recall well), so if you wanted your yacht to be there, you would need a larger yacht. It can be a challenge to find berths in other marinas also...

Most °µÍø½ûÇøs obtain residency either through a work contract, or property ownership (you can be 2 owners for 1 property).
