Tips and advice to thrive in Poland

Priscilla

Hi,

When living in a foreign country, you have to adapt to a new environment, various cultures and different social codes.

How did you manage to adjust to Poland?

How long does it take to feel at home? Would you say it is an easy process?

According to you, what is key for a successful integration process in Poland?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!

According to my husband, who moved to Poland from England, the key is the language.
I am very proud to say that he is working on that very hard and starts to be successful.

After 1.5 years, he no longer needs my assistance in social gatherings, friends start to address him directly and are very patient in waiting for his reply. Everybody understands, that he still needs time but also that it is of great help to him, if they "make" him to use his Polish.

It is never an easy task to settle in a different country to your own. However if you make that decision, there are consequences one take upon him/herself.

I used to live in Germany (10 years) and UK (15 years). It was very hard, but I always started with the language and after a while, everything was much easier. I made friends in both countries and was happy there.

Start with the language, that is my advice.
