Hello I wonder if anyone can help pls. My husband got a new job in NY so we relocated on his O1 visa. I have been in NY 6 months now and would like to work but my occupation isn鈥檛 specialised and won鈥檛 require sponsorship as I鈥檓 a Personal Assistant. Do you know if I can obtain a working visa and if so how? Thank you !!

Your legal status is tied to your spouse and it does offer the option of employment. There is no such thing as employment based visa for personal assistant.

oh thank you so much.聽 So he could speak to his legal / hr and they could amend it to a working visa if necessary?

Oh sorry I missed that and just read your post. Just had a look and it reads - They may not work in the United States under this classification, but they may engage in full or part time study on an O-3 visa - so maybe I cannot work then. It鈥檚 all very confusing!

What is confusing? As of spouse you cannot get an EAD employment authorization.

I have been having the same problem but in Russia. My wife landed a pretty good job there but she is having serious problems with her visa. I had no idea it was this hard to get into that country. Processing times are up to 20 business days for standard service or up to 3 business days for urgent service depending upon the visa category applied for and the application itself. We needed to get her a visa ASAP. My boss at work recommended we try because as he said they get the job done in bo time and at a good price. You must sign an immigration card every time you arrive in Russia. This will be given to you at passport control. The card is in 2 identical parts.
