I've never heard of anyone ejected for volunteering. In fact, I bet if you go into a police station and offer to help in some way they'll be polite and even offer suggestions. If you want to be part of any Thai community I think it's a ... Read More

Not anymore. I live and play in Chiang Mai now, but there is usually a foreigner or two that play. Tony's gym in central Pattaya has a court, but it's tiny and located on the fourth floor. Not sure how much it cost to play, but there are ... Read More

Don't have the address, but soy wadboon is on the map. A large hotel (I forget which) is on the corner of Beach road and soi wadboon. Just turn left there, and when you get to the market turn right. You can also ask anyone at the market ... Read More

I agree. You shouldn't have any problems volunteering. Just ask. You can also change your retirement visa. I did to teach, and should a school, for instance, want you they'll help with the change. Legalities aside, Thais, like everyone, are ... Read More

Soi Wadboon is off beach road in Jomtien a few kilometers south of the main part of town. Turn left when you get there. You'll pass a large intersection, then you'll need to turn left the second left and that'll take you to the ... Read More

Dream to Retire in Pattaya by gworsham

My name is George and currently live in Houston, Texas. I have worked in the oil and gas business and feel it is time to retire. I am single and I need a low cost place to live. I want to move there to Pattaya and not compromise security, health and ...

As I said, I now live in Chonburi. Pattaya is a great place to get acclimated, but for me, I had more problems with dishonest farangs than I had with the Thais. If you're serious, try to learn at least some of the language. Thais really appreciate ... Read More

I presently live in Chonburi, about an hour's drive North of Pattaya. I lived in Pattaya about 2 years. Decent condos will usually cost at least 2 million baht (around $60k, but if you shop around you should be able to find something reasonable in ... Read More

When I lived in Pattaya, I always played in the sports stadium near Soi Wadboon in Jomtien. Enter the park and drive past the initial court into the park. You'll see a couple of courts past the big building. They always get crowded after about 6:30 ... Read More

There's a court I used to play at in a park off Soi Wadboon in Jomtien. Good competitive players begin to get there around 6 PM. A lot of Filipinos also play at the athletic club (I forget the name) on Pattay Nua (the main road to the beach in north ... Read More
