Vahim, I am much older then you are but I am not much wiser even though I know better.  I am also alone and, I do know the cure for it still, I have the hardest time doing something about it.  For me, this is what I have to do: I am 61 and I have to go to senior citizens clubs and socialize if I want company and to make friends.  Funny coincidence, today I printed the club's activities for the next month and it looks fantastic! I have known about it for a long time but the real reason I did not do anything about it, is that I am afraid of been rejected.  Logically I know I will not be because I am well read, I have an incredible volume of knowledge and I am interesting once I start socializing. However, it is hard for me to start and not have this emotional doubt. Today after I looked at the activities planned for July for the club, I decided that NO MATTER WHAT Monday morning at 9.00 I will be at the club and I will ask to get a tour of the place.  I will start slow and I will be able to meet a few people and say "hello". I will go for the entire month of July.  If at the end of the month I still feel awkward, I will not go beyond that but, I must try, it will not kill me and the longer I wait the harder it will be.  Try to think about your own difficulties, if my story can help you in any way!

mariacatarina, well said :top:
I wish you a good luck on Monday and for the rest of July as well.
I also encourage you to keep trying, even If, at the end of the July you still feel awkward.
You said it your self "I must try, it will not kill me" and also if you keep trying will not kill either.

Please keep us in touch at the end of July about what happend :).

Cheers,
MO.
