Sriv, if u r considering the Middle East which has the biggest construction potential right now then it is not so much where u apply but whom u know.
My first job I got after travelling to Dubai, holding out for 3 month and sending 1 application after another. Nowadays (6 years later!)I have a broad base of friends in many countries and I contact them when I need a new job.
Going through the usual channels can and will get u a job but it takes time.
Another issue in the Middle East is that companies here mostly want people that have 2-3 years Middle East experience already, specially at the Managerial level. They do not want to be the ones to give u the chance to gain this experience but they put it as a requirement.
If u r Indian, Nepali or Bangladeshi try to look for a family that has a relative abroad and ask them for their help by contacting him to gain his cooperation. That is what I did in the Philippines before I arrived in Dubai.
Rodapoda has a point....u didn't mention the job u r looking for when u posted. What have u studied and what is ur experience level?
