We can’t Close our Hearts Forever

FeminineHeart

There's a difference between goodbye and letting go. Goodbye is "I'll see you again when I'm ready to hold your hand, and when you're ready to hold mine". Letting go is "I'll miss your hand. I realized it's not mine to hold, and I'll never hold it again".

It’s funny. No matter how hard we try, we can’t close our hearts forever. And the minute we open them up, we never know what’s going to come in. But when it does, we’ve just got to go for it, cause if we don’t, there’s no point in being here. The story of life is quicker than the blink of an eye. I want to see only the good in every ending. This is the beginning of anything we want. Every ending has a new beginning.

Why do you call it heart and not soul?
By opening your heart, do you mean that you try to connect your soul with other human souls?
Your heart is just an organ, really susceptible to our soul condition indeed.
And yes, it is possible to live an entire life without ever "opening your heart", which means you never realize of the existence of the inner spirit. Doesn't most people then misinterpret " Opening the heart" as for material pleasures needs?
Once your soul is discovered then you'll fully be able to achieve love, which is completely subjective, but universal at the same time and it won't be a matter of letting go or saying goodbye neither.

FeminineHeart

We feel, we hear, we see, and we think with our hearts. It's not a physical feeling, but spiritual. When your heart is closed, your soul is closed. So it's all coming back to the heart.

Firstly, I like your writings. You are so positive and optimistic with life. I am not an expert on this subject but I just want to say that I wish the heart could consult the brain before opening up to anyone or anything.May be there would be less pieces and 'let gos".

Thank you.
Actually, scientifically proven that the heart sends signals to the brain. But you know what? Love can be a mistake, but it's worth making.

Sometimes ppl coming back again but I dunno what they miss most, being beside their lovers or the memories itself…sometimes I feel as if, if it did not work from the first time then it won’t ever

Some people do a u-turn because the grass on the other side wasn't greener like they expected. Some are just sadists, who hate seeing others happy so they return for Season2 to finish whatever they started. There are few genuine ones who change for the better.

What if, instead, we feel, hear, see, taste and perceive (reality or the external world) through the condition of our mind and the essence of our thoughts? We attract what we think, we understand(spiritually)  the world just based on the depth of our thoughts, which resides in our mind, what controls (or should, if not victim of our instincts) our actions. Not everyone, especially nowadays, is in contact anymore with their soul. Even if it's strong and resides in us, sometimes it shakes us from underneath without us realizing, giving us signs, hence variations of heartbeats, headaches, or stomachaches. The centre of our emotions is actually our belly, not the heart. But it's hard to understand these signs, as we are constantly victims of external noises and distractions, others telling us what's best for us, making our body, mind and soul get out of synchro. Humans are very fragile.
The heart you talk about is a pure metaphorical attribute, given by the literature movement of romanticism, an art created by very confused man on earth, who could never give a meaning to what they were truly seeking in life. Love is not between humans only. This is why, once you understood what your soul was really seeking, you'll have to figure out what to do in order to find inner peace. It won't be a simply mere matter of letting go or saying goodbye. This is how, in my poor intellect, I tried to understand your statement. Don't make a memory of a good material pleasure define the purpose of your inner spirit.
Show me your own opinion if you do not agree with anything I said.
Peace, Anas.

Thank you for your insight. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I believe that the ability of the heart to think is not merely a romantic idea. The heart physically sends signals to the mind, which sometimes dominate our intellect. I believe that the heart is the door to the soul. People who see through their heart, they can see the depth of the world and the purpose of their existence.

I've never heard before that heart sends signals to mind. As I know scientifically, our emotions are the products of some chemicals released in our brains like endorphin, epinephrine, dopamine, serotonin etc. This might seem too materialistic approach to the subject but this is what science says. But as an analogy, I like the saying of opening heart and seeing heart as home to love ;)

FeminineHeart

According to Rolin McCratey, Ph.D, and director of research:

“Emotional information is actually coded and modulated into these fields. By learning to shift our emotions, we are changing the information coded into the magnetic fields that are radiated by the heart, and that can impact those around us. We are fundamentally and deeply connected with each other and the planet itself.

"One important way the heart can speak to and influence the brain is when the heart is coherent – experiencing stable, sine-wavelike pattern in its rhythms. When the heart is coherent, the body, including the brain, begins to experience all sorts of benefits, among them are greater mental clarity and ability, including better decision making.

"HeartMath research has demonstrated that different patterns of heart activity (which accompany different emotional states) have distinct effects on cognitive and emotional function. During stress and negative emotions, when the heart rhythm pattern is erratic and disordered, the corresponding pattern of neural signals traveling from the heart to the brain inhibits higher cognitive function. This limits our ability to think clearly, remember, learn, reason, and make effective decisions. In contrast, the more ordered and stable pattern of the heart’s input to the brain during positive emotional states has the opposite effect. It facilitates cognitive function and reinforces positive feelings and emotional stability."

Insightful essay. Thanks for it.

AnasMou95

Isn't the soul that has control over the heart? Therefore the heart signals to the brain might be due to our soul activity?
This is what I was trying to ask on my first reply. This does not go against any of what you're saying, I just tried to clarify one of my infinite doubts, as I'm also trying to "open my heart" and go through the RiGhT path...
It's harder to love than to hate, it's easier to lie than to be honest...  I hope that whatever you had to let go or say goodbye to, was for the greater good of things.

Define the soul.
Nobody knows what the soul is, only God knows, What we can explain and observe is our physical being. Trying to improve spiritually can be done by controlling our physical senses and preventing them from doing what could disturb our hearts which will result in disturbing our spirituality.

Now, I do not follow any actual religion, even if I dedicate myself into the study of the Bible, Torah and Quran for the monotheistic religions and Buddhism, Hinduism, ancient beliefs and mythologies. My idea of soul is really similar to what has already been thought of for ages. We can't define it, it's a matter of belief, will power, it's our inner essence. If we manage to delete all the external influences of the material world we'd be able to get in touch with, we as mere animalistic creatures. We are not superior nor inferior than any other being, what I always repeat myself is that any rock should be treated with much more respect, following our logical reasoning, as rocks live and "see" for much longer than any human possibly can. But we are the most influential creature in this planet, as we can reshape the environment to our liking and we can strive towards infinity, we seem like we can get out of the normal circle of nature.
As we can be moved by our own will, whereas a rock needs time and another natural element to start moving.
And this again does not make us superior beings, but gives us responsibility, a very important and dangerous thing to hold.
Our soul is what gives us this power, and if we never get in touch with it, then we are just part of the normal cycle of nature. It cannot be defined, but it can be believed. The strongest the belief the strongest the will power.
And is it improving spiritually, or actually discovering the spirit?

Guestposter5

We are spiritual beings (in other words, we are soul, we don't have a soul, we ARE soul), living in a physical body, gifted with an intellect (imagination, perception, the will, memory, reason, or simply defined as the mind).

Guestposter5

Also, I some what relate to AnasMou95's point. He said something about disconnecting ourselves from the outer world in order to understand who we are, soul. Disconnection isnt simply "lets put down our phones for an hour", utter disconnection actually means isolation, solitude and the simple understanding of the functionality of the mind.
Quote "Its when we swim in silence, that what we are (again soul) speaks through our mind and expressed through our bodies." I'm no pro on Buddhism, AnasMou you can correct me on this but this is what the Buddhist call meditation.
We also talk about 'knowing thyself', which means, yet again, knowing soul, knowing me, knowing you, knowing us, knowing who we are. Some people go on LONG (years) spiritual conquests for the mere purpose of understanding thyself. So my point being, the understanding of who we are (soul) is a life long process, it speaks to us everytime, after each success or each failure as long as we're willing to listen to it, but again we must be able to disconnect from today's world constant distractions.

Confusingly, there are actually two things called "heart":
- The organ in our breast, that ceaselessy pumps blood through our body and thus makes sure we stay alive (but it has no perceptible influence on our moods - and isn't even heart-shaped)
- The emotional centre of our mind, which has traditionally (in European medieval paintings) been depicted as heart-shaped leaf (probably ivy) in front of a person's breast (although it is of course not localized and has no shape)
It is important, in the context of this discussion, to keep this difference in mind. We are talking about the abstract "heart" here, not the physical organ. It determines our moods and well-being.

Also please note that the mind is an activity, it's not a thing. No has ever seen the mind.

Discovering and improving are both in the same process. We are in a journey in this world to improve life on earth, and to improve and purify our souls.

Disconnecting ourselves from the outer world is impossible. We are both body and soul. However, controlling our body and abstaining from what might disturb our inner peace is the key.

We are not body, we have a body. The body can only do what the mind tells it to do. The body is the temple for the soul but we're not body. If we were our body wouldn't be turning into dust while our soul is set free.
