Is it safe, is the quality of life ok for westerners?

Hi everyone, I聮ve been considering a job in Luwanda and have a few questions. I聮ve worked all over in the oil and gas industry so I聮m pretty savvy. I spent 10 months in Vitoria Brazil and loved it. I know you don聮t go our alone, where Rolex聮s, etc but I聮m a bit nervous about Luanda really as I know very little about it.

I turned down a job in Nigeria because of the horror stories id heard about Lagos Airport, Is Luanda airport ok? Is it violent or do they have and kidnapping issues. The job is with BP so hopefully they ensure our safety etc.

Can you walk safely in the street, is the food ok?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
