The simple answer is the starting point, which is establishing a professional network. It's who you know first, then what you know. Botswana is quite traditional in business related matters, so formal dress for office environments and they have dress-down Friday in most sectors. I've found larger corporations use email, but with smaller businesses it's phone calls, face-to-face and fax machines are common practise. Cheques are still in operation too, so purchases from suppliers are likely to require payment in cash or cheque.
