Every island has one or more Health Centers as well as private medical clinics (the largest islands also have a hospitals). Sal has a a Health Center (they even call it a hospital). But the health care is BASIC.
Serious cases are treated at the Hospital in Praia or Mindelo. More severe cases have to be sent to Dakar, Senegal (the nearest modern medical facilities) or to Portugal.
