Pregnancy in Chad

Christine

Hi,

could you please share advice and tips about pregnancy in Chad?

Who are the best gynecologists for pregnancy follow-ups?

Which hospitals or clinics would you recommend to give birth in Chad?

Thanks a lot for your advice :)

I lived in Chad for nearly 23 years and wouldn't recommend giving birth there.  Last year we had a member of our team who was determined to give birth in Chad.  We couldn't find any recommendations at all for a suitable hospital or gynae.  We asked several NGO midwives and gynaes whether they would be prepared to do prenatal checks and help with the birth.  NOT ONE was willing to help- not even for the prenatal checks.  They thought the idea was crazy and that no °µÍø½ûÇø should even consider that option when they could go elsewhere.  In the end the family had a midwife from the US come out several weeks before the birth and the baby arrived without complications.  The fear of all the NGO workers is that there is no backup in case of emergency.  In this town of 100 000 people they said they would have to call in people to the hospital if an emergency C-section was required in the middle of the night and it could take 2 hours to get it organized.
