Al jazeerah, why so much hatred?

°µÍø½ûÇøEnglishTeacher

Why has so many people started hating on al jazeerah? I watch and read dozens of news resources to get an idea of what's happening. But I find it very interesting Egyptian media is so one sided. Their reporters give their opinions all the time. I thought reporting news was suppossed to be objective and non biased?

Then so many people hate on aljazeerah but all I see from them is a two sided story? I always see pro and against debating on there all the time not once did I see that on CBC or any Egyptian news.

Hope I didn't just start a fight but come on seriously this has got to be a joke.the exact same thing happened during the mubarak protests!

I totally agree with you. The Egyptian media is so biased, and most of the Egyptians just take the information as it is and believe it without thinking or seeing the subjects from other prospective.

And this hatred for Aljazeerah is a result of charging the people against it through the Egyptian media; as they say that Qatar and Aljazeerah want to ruin Egypt. But, I think that Aljazeerah is biased too, not the way the Egyptian media is, but it prefers one side than the other.

I think that BBC is the one channel that you can get news from without worrying whether are you having the complete picture or not.

I agree with you. However BBC, I would never trust BBC. I don't trust any media. YOu can't trust anyone be it aljazeera, bbc, or anyone. FInland has the worlds most freedom of the press and I wouldn't even trust them. It's best to not only get news from different places but we must be analytical when weee read (or listen). No one learns how to read in school anymore they've taken that out of the curricula since a century now (learning words and sentences is what I call "sight" reading but it's not the true meaning of reading. Reading is communication. We all have problems communicating, verably and written. That's because we never learned how to). We need to understand why they are reporting the story, the light they are reporting the story in and why are they reporting the story in that light. What are the consquecnes etc.

there is a great book to learn how to read by Mortimer J. Adler titled How to read a book for anyone who wants to have a truly free mind it's a must have.

We never learned how to think or communicate in school so if we want to be independent and think on our own and not be slaves to the powers of persuasion we must learn how to think ourselves.

I should clap for this post :D its like an article in a newspaper. yes, we should work our minds on every and each piece of information given to us. but, most of Egyptians, once convinced that something or someone is good, they wont believe anything bad about it/him and the opposite is true. Also, they judge people collectively, like if 3 or 4 people of a group of 10 people are bad then the whole group is bad!!

I'll consider having this book. you know I've never read a book, neither Arabic nor English until recently, but I purchased "Life of Pi" two weeks ago and read like 15 papers. I wish I could finish it before I  reach 30 :D

@ahmad91,
I don't have any comment on "your own opinion" about the Egyptian media or any other medias.

My only concern is about your saying "most of the Egyptians just take the information as it is and believe it without thinking or seeing the subjects from other prospective"

This saying seems pretty extreme.
I think before you can confidently judge "most of the Egyptians" you have to know "exactly how all the Egyptians" think, do you?
I doubt, so I invite you to consider correcting this statement.

ok :) ..."many Egyptians", When I said that I didn't mean any offence, its from what I see, seldom when you see two arguing about a political subject without ending up with a fight(shouting). and I see this everyday, with my friends, family members and even in puplic transportaions. sometimes they are very close to fighting each other literally. but of course there are many Egyptians who take subjects rationally and know how to argue and accept difference of others, but I didn't meet much of them :D. I think that this is happening because we are not used to politics and arguing about it. Also, the information given to us through the media is very poor and despite this some build up their opinion and stick to it as if it is a fact. however, this is a useful period - I think - to learn from our mistakes, and get through it peacefully. Again I didn't mean to judge anyone I am talking about a phenomenon that we witness and many people have noticed this phenomenon.
Have a nice day.

Anything can be written to sound correct and heartfelt. Only by seeing the person who's rhetoric it is and looking them in the eye when they espouse it, can you truly be sure that it is not a lie and that it is a truly held belief.
