Travelling to White Desert and oasis

Hi,

I want to go on a few days trip to Farafra oasis and while there, go on a safari - see Black and White Desert and anything else worth seeing there. However, I have been told, that it is now forbidden to go on safari in the oasis area. Is that true? Also - I am thinking of going there by bus- I have only managed to find out that the Upper Egypt bus company goes there - does anyone has maybe times of the buses - also leaving Farafra? All help actually would be welcome!
