Keeping fit in Egypt

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Keeping fit during your time in Egypt is of utmost importance. How about sharing with us and your fellow °µÍø½ûÇøs how you keep healthy in your host country?

What are your daily health hacks in Egypt?

Do you exercise regularly? What is your go-to sport?

Do you manage to keep your diet healthy and balanced? How easy is it to maintain a balanced diet in Egypt? Are you able to find organic products easily?

Are there national or local incentives to foster a healthy lifestyle: sensitisation campaigns, sports infrastructure etc. ?

How much of your monthly budget is dedicated to keeping fit?

Please share your experience,

Priscilla

I thought keeping fit is easy .. exsercise and starve 😎

Why eating is very easy thing to do, while doing exercises is like a donkey work!.

Dang, I have no health hacks. Sitting all day at the office is a horrendous trait. Morning yoga routine keeps me boosted and well-going, though.
Organic conventional products are also easily reachable, nonetheless the fancy ones are more expensive specially if you're a picky eater.

Hi Every Keep fit fan,
Reading all the comments, I seem to be going to wrong Egypt or staying in a wrong city.
I personally do not think that the local governments provides enough facilities for exercises or keeping fit in Egypt. Every inch of space available in Hurghada is used by some greedy person to build more buildings. There is no space to walk except on the footpath of a busy Road, breathing in all the pollution produced by the cars. There is so much space available in Egypt but nothing to do with sport for young children is being prepared or made. I see many children playing football in the street with stones or kicking around plastic bottles. Egypt need more sporting facilities so we can produce more Mo Salahs and more talents in many young people.
There are no parks to walk in or jog in, there are no leisure activities for younger or older people to participate in. The beaches are taken up by local or foreign hotel people. There are very few disorganised gyms but very pricy for the local people. More sporting facilities would create more jobs for local people, and will have healthy people too in Egypt.
There are no, football pitches, Badminton, squash or tennis indoor courts.
Sorry for being negative, but that is the truth and that is how I feel, when in Egypt. I suppose I am comparing my stay in Egypt to my stay in the UK.

On any of my extended stays in Egypt, I would make a habit of walking in the evening.  That was in 6th October city though, so it wasn't really congested. In the Alexandria governerate I would do the same.

Having a good Pilates dvd or a book, a sandbag or some weights for weight-training can see you good. It's just the motivation that is needed. You can also find smaller gyms scattered around if you feel you need the focus that that type of setting provides.

I found organic food easy to access in Cairo.
