Hello Retired but not tired.

So as to make it more visible, your post has been moved to the Accra forum. :)

Thank you,

If it is just spending money then it would be adequate to live a modest lifestyle. However if you have to pay rent at a minimum of $300 and that would not be in the centre of town, utilities including TV, phone and internet $100+, travel depending on whether you used local trotros or taxis and where you were living, around $50, medical treatment is not cheap here either if you use the private system and if you see the public system, I am sure you wouldn't use it,  so you would probably need medical insurance and that is quite expensive depending on your provider. Local food is cheap but if you are eating Western type food your budget is going to be about $200 and that is cooking at home, if you are eating out or intending to socialise a lot then you could easily spend your $700 on that.
Of course the majority of Ghanaians live on a lot less but they are usually sharing a room, do not have utility bills and eat local street food and also have some form of family support.
I suggest you come for 3 months and assess the place for yourself and then decide if it is for you.
