Do not worry about crime rate etc etc.Police is there in every country to maintain Law and order. To live in Ghana is safer compare to other african countries but that does not mean that there is no crime at all.

It's really not as bad as the media abroad would have you believe. Take the same precautions as you would in a crowded, suburban part of New York or London and you'll be ok. Pickpocketing and bag snatching are the major issues.

and if something more serious like a break in occurs, it's rather low technology crime... and they run away fast...

just keep your doors locked and ur purse in your pocket, you should be fine then.

ghana has low crime, pick pocketing, snacting og mobile phones

Hi

Even I wanted to know about the Crime in Ghana, as I have seen and heard lots of crime news(almost every alternate day) in Lagos, Nigeria.

Many of you have propmtly expressed your experience above, Thanks for the same.

Hi,
Still I would advise you to employ a watchman or a security for your house at night. And have burglar profe in front of windows and doors - or stay in gated community. We had uninvited guests just last week...Taking laptop and mobile.

But walking on the streets night and day i fairly safe.

Best Regards

Like shunny65 have said, crime exists in every country. Compare to other african countries ,ghana is better.

hardly ever violence here. small crimes like pickpockets etc. if in a house, get a 24/7 security for about 400 - 500 cedis a month (e.g. G4S). dont leave your car and house unlocked, if in crowd carry purse/wallet in your front pocket. but that's about it.

oh yes, one more thing. dont brag and dont show off. everybody knows you have more than the locals. there is no point in increasing temptation.

otherwise, everything safe (in the city), also at night no problem going around.

try not to drive outside the city at night, plan your journeys so that you always drive during the day.

ghanaians are peaceful and life is very forgiving.
