Prescription Medication

Marklye

Hi
My husband has recently started working in Libya.  He is on lifelong prescription medication and our GP in the UK has sent him off with 3 months worth but wont provide any more as he says if he is not living in the UK, he cant provide him with his medication.  This medication is vital to his health and wellbeing and he absolutely cannot go without it as it could be life threatening.  Any advice on where he can get that medication in Libya would be greatly appreciated.  Does he have to register with a GP or clinic over there and if so, is it a quick process as in the UK, i.e. appt - prescription - chemist or does it take for ever?  Can anybody help please?  Many thanks.

Check with his employer - most international companies will have you set up at one of the private clinics.

We go to a private clinic, (Medilink), and they were able to quickly and easily provide the medication we needed.  They imported meds for us in less than a week but always consider that this is Libya - a week one time may mean a month the next so it is wise to plan well in advance.
