@Julien

Hi everyone,

My husband, Steve, and I arrived from England last week and are in Black River (currently in the Esplanade but get our own place on the 22nd which I’m very excited about!) Steve is commuting to Moka (same brokerage he ran in the UK). I am really hoping to meet some people and enjoy life here - loving walking down the beach and the coffee shops, but wondering how to get more integrated into the life here

Hoping to get to know you all soon!

@Bhavna actually given the amount of development at 5,000 new units a year and a finite amount of brickies on the island this chap should easily find construction work

Thank you for your invite. I pause to tell my story as it is very long and I am not used to explain it in public. Oh, nothing naughty---I am just not a person that spills his guts in public. I am someone that has spent most of his life in aviation--both military and civil. Anyway , in my later years I find my wife has moved on, and I am at a point that I m not sure about many things----however my wife  and I planned to retire in UK. This has not worked for me and after nearly 40 years in USA. I have picked Mauritius as a final stop for me ---it' s very like Florida (25 years). I intend to be in Mauritius 1st March 25. I want what ,I think everyone wants, is to be near the sea, even on the beach. Can someone help me get it sorted

@mm2359

Welcome. Mauritius is a lovely place to retire to. As you would expect, there are good and not so good aspects. I hope you have visited recently and experienced life in Mauritius for a few weeks, which is advisable before you make any final decisions.

You can get more information from the EDB website. Applications for a 'retirement permit' can be done online personally. You could also search the forum for more information.

Good luck, and keep posting here, or you could message me personally.

Happy New Year.

Julien
