Marriage Visa

Oweezy07

Hello, I need help from someone who has had a civil wedding in Mauritius to a foreigner. My partner and I are currently in Mauritius, I am a Mauritian citizen and she is on a premium visa. I understood that she would have to leave the country in order to apply for a marriage visa but how does it work exactly? Is it online? Would she have to stay abroad until it gets approved and if so, how long would that be?

From my understanding, it is just a matter of leaving the country, returning to Mauritius and upon arrival at immigration, say that we are applying for a premium visa but no one at the PIO or Civil Affairs office could provide a clear answer.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hello Oweezy07,

The best way to get the most accurate and up-to-date information is to visit the PIO office in person. There, you can speak directly with an agent and collect the forms needed to apply for the visa related to your wedding.

You will also find a notice board at the office (though I can’t recall the exact floor) with all the key information about the process. If you have further questions, it is always best to speak to someone on-site, they will be able to guide you more precisely than over the phone.

Hopefully, someone here will also be able to share their experience with you on the matter.

All the best,

Cheryl

Hello we are waiting for wedding dates etc from civil office with my partner....So yes she will have to leave the country and come back, ask for a wedding visa at arrival. But to my partner they also asked for bank statement of 90000rs , birth certificate, your id copy plus a letter from you with your intention of getting married to foreigner. For my part he arrived on feb and still waiting we had to get an extension of his visa and P.O is very slow and people still waiting since november.
