What would be the best place to stay for family with bunch of kids

IvanStravinsky

hello everyone,

We are reckoning to move gradually to Mauritius and trying locate the best place to stay. We have 4 kids of all ages from 16 to 3 and main priority is to make it work for them. So,  they have best school possible (maybe offering IB) and close to the house and do not waste time for traveling.

I'm working from home, my wife not working, so we are really do not depend much on other kind of considerations.

your inputs much appreciated.

I'm posting it in kids section as accommodations available everywhere

Hi,
You should start contacting schools right away to see where there are openings.  There are lots of posts on this site about the International English schools in Mauritius - or you can google them to get a list (there aren't that many choices!)  I recommend contacting each directly to find out their timetables, fees, and whether they are full or not.   Chances are your kids will be in different pre-primary, primary and secondary schools so you've got a big job ahead of you.  Assuming you've got all your visa paperwork in order, finding schools is the hardest job.  Good luck.

hi, thanks for inputs, I'm looking for house/duplex/villa in Moka area. There are many schools, I hope something can be done. As you suggested I will start contacting them from next week.
thanks again.

thanks, but rented duplex in Moka :) Everything close, very moder furniture, new house. Climate significantly cooler compare to "close to the beach" locations.

Searching now  for place to set up my painting studio.

Hello Ivan!

I am so happy to find here someone moving there with kids...I have also plan to move to Mauritius with my family...i have 2 kids...one is almost 3 and the second one is 5 months now...well, as i saw, you already have all the papers...i am looking for the informations...which papers do i need, what kind of visa can i get...i am in the begining...last year we married there and we decided to move there, because here in Slovenia there is no future! So, i would be verry happy if you can just a little help me!And if i get all the papers, i hope that soon we can also meet :)

hey matea,

I like Moka very much. Very calm place and climate colder then in coastal area no need to run ACs. Close to everything.

I suggest you to do some good planing before you decide to move. Mauritius great place to rise kids. And kids looks very happy here. But with small child like your's travel and settling things can be more difficult, not just practically but mentally too.

Hi!
Thanks for the answer! I know it is going not to be easy...first i have to do good planning as you said...i know...but first i need to do all the papers, get the visas and all this formalities...then we have to sell things here...this will probably take a year...so the youngest one will be more than 1 year that time, and older one will be around 4 and half...so i think it will be easier that time.

It won`t be difficult for me, because i have plans, dreams to go somewhere with better climate as here in Slovenia...I don`t like snowy winter, i love ocean, sunsets, warm weather...I was always planing to move to Australia, but since we married in Mauritius last year, we both fell in love with that island...it was because there is no rush, people are verry friendly, life is slowlier...In Slovenia system is going down, so here is no future for my kids...and i really want to see joy in their eyes, running them on the beach and growing up happy...When we were there, we were staying in Grand Gaube, but i really didn`t see Moka...i need to look online for some photos...your words are saying that Moka is really nice and friendly for kids...? How long are you now in Mauritius??? Does your family enjoy it??? Was it sressfull to move there???

Moka has few advantages, colder climate, shopping easy (Spar, Bagatell), schools, university, sport complex -- all close. Plus very nice apartments and villas/duplexes in secure complexes available for rent on reasonable price. Also well connected, drive anywhere, Moka in center.
