Standard bank does not provide retail banking in Mauritius

Thanks, so what would be the best bank to deal with in Mauritius.

Depends on which kind of service you are seeking from your bank.

Most people here like MCB - Mauritius Commercial Bank

But there are also State Bank of Mauritius (SBM), Barclays Bank, and HSBC worth a look.

As an °µÍø½ûÇø which would be the best option in your opinion as I will still have payments due in SA, which means that I would like to transfer money across to my SA accounts.

Barclays bank might be a good choice since there is a branch in South Africa.

Obviously the choice of bank depends on your needs such as Atm withdrawals or debit card usage while in Mauritius. The main banks in mauritius such as MCB or SBM have a large network of branches and ATM MACHINES, other banks do not have such an extensive coverage and you may find that yes Barclays might be a good choice however you may be charged for using another banks ATM machine.  I know that SBM charged me for using the Barclay's ATM in Flic en Flac when their ATM was broken and I needed some cash urgently.
