I know for a fact that you do not have to take your ipad to technicians at Mauritius Telecom. The SIM you use is the same as mine but i use iPhone 3GS. What you need to do is tell them to put you through to their technical department, and then explain your prob to them, then they'll activate it. For a fact I know they can activate without you going there. Hope this helps.

Thanks Stormtrooper. The SIm has being activated. In the iPad you have the APN settings which needs to be filled in. I am trying to figure what are they.

For those who will have the same issue:

1. When you buy your prepaid microSIM with Orange for your iPad a) ask the agent to  activate it b) put no less than 200Rs on the account, c) send the following SMS 'buyimt150mb' to the number 8684 (you will have to use the adapter or ask the agent to help you and send it from the iPhone4)

APN settings:

APN: orange
User name: 'do not put anything'
Password: 'do not put anything'

Veini hi,
By adapter I mean the normal-SIM-shaped empty card frame where you can put microSIM and use this microSIM in any phone. You only need it for the SMS purposes. Just ask Orange guys - they should help.

I bought my Ipad2 from Courts. They gave 500mb data micro SIM as a free gift. I put it in my ipad but I could not activate internet. I called Emtel and they have asked me to visit one of their shop. So I went to the Emtel shop at Phoenix Jumbo but they've told me I should have went there without inserting the SIM into my iPad and they cannot activate the internet unless I pay 360 rupees.

Poor service from Emtel :-(

Can anybody tell me the price of a Orange micro sim with 500mb data ?

Lafaz hi,
I bought simple MicroSIM without any package and paid 100 Rs at Orange Grand Bay. With WiFi almost in every place where I usually go all I had to secure is to make 3G work and that's it. Happy.

Hallo everyone,

Updated iPad to iOS 5.0.1 have 3G connection but cannot go to Internet and download mail. Called Orange five times - the only recommendation "You have to come to Phoenix central office to fix you iPad settings". Do you know if there are any publicly available no-need-to-drive-to-Port-Luis solutions to set up the iPad?
