Part Time Job proposition for resident. Legal?

vlad_k

We've received a job proposition for family member with Residence Permit (dependent, no occupation permit)

The possible employee is stating that:
"This is a part time job opportunity and requires no intervention from the Ministry of employment or board of investment. It is possible to work as foreign trainer with permit from Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA). This approval allows to work for specific training projects for a maximum of 5 months validity."

The question is, it really true and legal?

Thank you.

FWIW:

Have you at least go to the site and get acquainted to the regulation as to being a "trainer"?
Is he or she a registered trainer ?

Your family member has a resident permit for being a "dependent" under your OP, thus not  entitled to work unless he or she acquires a valid work permit  AFAIK.
To be on the safe side, call the Ministry of Labour to ensure that his/her status under your OP is not jeopardized because someone wants to have a "short cut"

Clearly this is not legal. The dependent permit clearly mentions, on the verso, that the holder is not allowed to work. You better check with authorities

Hi, thank you for the reply.

No, she is not registered trainer and employee told that he has applied for MQA Trainer Registration for a training that is starting before it is even possible to get an approval.

So it does sound shady, and we definitely don't want to risk our current status.

We will certainly consult Ministry of Labor to figure out if there is any exemption from work permit that is applicable to our case.

Thanks again guys.
