Hi everyone

My husband and I are likely to be moving to Mauritius in the near future.

I have started to a look at properties to rent and have frequently come across rentals that 鈥渆xclude agency fees鈥�. I鈥檓 wondering if anyone could give me an indication of approximately how much (MUR or %) these agency normally are? Please also advise if the agency fees are once off or on an ongoing basis for the duration of the rental? A large part of our decision relies on the affordability of living in Mauritius and we would like a clearer picture in terms of cost of rentals.

Welcome to the forum.

Generally when you rent from an agency which applies fees, the expenses are as follows : 1 month rent + 1 month as rental security deposit (at times 2) to the owner and 1 month rent as agency fee/commission, add to that 15% VAT if it is an agency. Agency fee is paid once per contract.
