Hi
I am in South Africa emigrating to Mauritius and I contacted 3 insurance companies in Mauritius asking for a quote to cover my car and motorcycle.
They advised they do not cover vehicles older than 5 years...
One company was Eagle Mauritius (no offence) but I assume they quite large on the island.

Does anyone know of smaller private insurance companies that will cover older cars?

There are a few. Off hand, recollect the following -

LAMCO INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE
Phoenix insurance Mauritius (heard not great service - not verified)
New India Insurance
