Advice regarding opening a Sports Physio Practice

Ron-Vee

Dear Mauritian (ex-pat) community

My wife and I were seriously exploring to emigrate from south Africa to Mauritius, where she held a Mauritian nationality through descent (her dad).

She has recently passed away and I intend to honour our commitment by trying to move to Mauritius.

Originating in The Netherlands, where i qualified as a physiotherapist, I moved to South Africa, where she grew up, some 30 years ago. I have been specialising in management of sports- and other musculo-skeletal conditions in private practice in a multi-disciplinary sportsmedicine centre in Sandton, Johannesburg, since 1994.

Can anyone tell me whether I can apply for an occupational Visa (hopefully to be extended into a permanent visa at a later stage) if I present plans to open a sports physio practice in Mauritius (probably Moka area).

I have a long history of having worked in various sporting codes, particularly soccer/football, at club, national and international level, have completed many courses and have presented at a plethora of national and international sports medicine congresses.

Am fluent in english and decent in French (to be improved on).

Looking forward to your kind reply.

Ron

So sorry to hear your loss. Your intention to honour your commitment is very noble.
Your project to set-up such a centre in Mauritius is feasible. However, given that it has strong link to the medical area, you would probably need the approval of the Medical Council to practice.

Hi Nadeem

Quite a number of months and a pandemic later, I am more determined now to move.
Would you have any idea whom I ought to contact regarding registration?
