Motorhome additional driver

Andyholmes1603

Planning taking our motorhome to Morocco in February and taking out local insurance on arrival.

I believe only the named vehicle owner can be insured. No additional driver option.  Does anyone have experience of this and know if this the case. Thank you. Andy

Hi Andy,

I am sure insurance remains for the vehicle not the driver so doesn't matter who is driving as far as the vehicle is insured. Good luck

Hi andy , where are you from ? where is your vehicle registered/ insured?

a) you cannot bring a foreign registered vehicle into morocco on temp admission if itÅ› not insured

b) you cannot insure a foreign registered vehicle in morrocco unless itÅ› imported and you have a current address in Morocco

c)If your vehicle is rented in a EU country you will need to sort out insurance with / and persmission of the owner in order to pass customs  - and it would be cheaper to rent a vehicle in Morocco and transfer your stuff  , eg. if you rented a spanish vehicle rental companies are not happy to rent foreigners their campers to drive them in Morocco, they may make exceptions for locals) so they remove the cover and don´t give you a written permission to drive the vehicle onto a ferry across the straight...

d) if you are european or are a resident there /and  your vehicle is registered in Europe your current  vehicle insurance covers Morocco, or it usually does ,  your insurance card says what countries are covered, and you may want to buy additional cover form you insurance , if in your country/ country of registration, you  have to insure additional  drivers seperately then you need to see your insurer.  again if you have rented a european camper  you may be blocked from entering morocco by the rental company
