An odd question to ask but pertinent.

So in my travels throughout Morocco, one thing that drives my wife crazy and myself to a degree are the roaches. What I want to know is why don't buildings have screen windows like we do in the US? It seems strange to me that when the bugs are the size of cars, you would want to keep them out. So seriously, why aren't there screens in the windows?

Well you are correct about the bugs they are soooo big .
Regarding the screen windows it is up to who ever lives in the house to put it or not. Some of the people i know have it some others don't. Plus all the houses i have been in have exterior shutters, that keep the bugs away ( and the light and sun to some degree ). Another thing might be that you have to many things in the window like the screen then the shutters (sometimes in the summer you will melt without them ) and then the window and them maybe a window curtain, so all this put together it will look odd (my opinion)

roaches hhhh man don't be affraid of them
actually it's not about windows to have screens or shutters so roaches can be banded from coming in, in fact those bugs are common only in the summer when the heat is up then when they invade the humans territories looking for some food supplies, " nothing can stop their invasion"
in summer you will find some of them drinkin some coffe in your home's front door waiting for you聽 to open the door so they can sneak in without your attention, or the frogs 'military squad' who can take the risk to invade your ground from the sewage system at the end there is the air force if it was boiling and you have some air conditioning system聽 don't freak out but if you don't ........... I don't think you can make it!!! hhhhh
I remember back when we were just kids playing outdoors , we used to collect those roaches in bottles so we can threaten gals to give us a kiss ,
do you know the literature translation of the roach in te moroccan Darja it means " the thief of oil " sra9 zit I don't know where this name came from but I think is because its shiny brown skin.
