There are lots of hangouts, restaurants, shopping plazas and almost everything you can get in any major city. Mobile phones are also easy to purchase and taxis are quite cheap, you can always make arrangements with a care hire service and the roads are very accessible. I am sure you will have a great time in Abuja.  :D

Good day doctor,

It going to be wonderful experience living in Abuja since you have an accommodation, mobile phone/car should be the least of your worry. I can afford to by you a phone & sim so that you can reach your family back home. Also hangout are everywhere, funny enough i was invited for party guess where it was? An India Restaurant, own and manage by India's. Easy mobility, there are cab to take you to your destination at cheapest rate. If you need an assistance, you can reach me [Moderated]

Best Indian restaurants:
Wakkis in Wuse II
and
Spice Foods, Gwandu Street Opp. Bolton Hotels (has a nice atmosphere)
I also suggest that you join the Internations group. internations.org  - we meet once a month in different locations and it's a great opportunity to come across people from all walks of life.
Abuja is calm, not a lot of traffice - actually not really Africa. Life is expensive - at least I find - compared to what people earn.
You will meet many Indians here, they are like in India (I've lived in Mumbai for 4 years) very hard-working people.

I hope you will enjoy - as of 1.8.2014 Emirates will fly to Abuja which will make it easier to travel back and forth, unless you chose to travel by Egypt-Air or Ethiopian-Airlines to India.

Happy Landing and cheers
