Thank you in advance !
Good morning Nadia, which country are you from?
Johannes
You probably have done a lot of research already and see the population is just above 100k spread over 115 islands. I am South African and have worked in Seychelles since Nov 2021.
Everything is here that you may need, but will be at a far smaller and far less grand scale than Qatar. Loads of small one man/family shops run either by local people, Indian and or Bangladeshi families. Everything is imported and lots of goods are sourced from India, Bangladesh UAE and South Africa including meds and pharmacies are well stocked. If there is specific meds you use I advise you bring enough of these until conformed you can source it locally.
There are decent doctors, dentists and optometrists but it can be expensive. Once you have your GoP you could pay less as you are seen as a resident. As a resident you will also be charged less if you make use of the ferry to the other islands or fly there with local airline. At least 5 banks to choose from if you would want to open an account which I advise as it is easier to pay rent, airtime, etc from bank account.
It is very easy to obtain your local drivers licence and ID (NiN) once you have obtained your GoP which wall also help if you need to drive around, but you have to present a valid drivers licence. Almost everyone can speak English and people are generally very friendly and helpful.
There are also plenty local and smallish local markets to source fresh fish and veggies from. Your mainstream and larger shops can become expensive.
It is hot and humid all time around but not as much as Qatar.
I hope the above helps Nadya.
@61mechswa Yes ! Very helpful thank you for your time !
I guess one of the struggles I will face is finding Halal food (meat, poultry) as I am Muslim, so might need to become Pescatarian for the 1st period of time there lol. I will be also working in Anse à la mouche side, do you have any idea how is that area ? I guess more expensive since mainly touristic ?
Hospitals are located in mainly Victoria or you can find ones in other areas like Anse à la mouche ? I also read that public transportation is not the greatest as the timing change, sometimes bus won't just come etc, will it be a struggle ?
The hot and humid weather don't think it will bother me that much as as you mentioned Qatar is quite similar, minus the rain , and love the rain so won't be an issue. But for the clothes I need to bring, I am seeing shorts dresses etc, doesn't it get cold at night ? like jackets are needed ? Also mosquitos, are there mists - creams - repellent and stuff like that available there ?
One last question, I also read that Internet can be a problem. 3/4 or 5G is expensive to get on a monthly basis ?

Hi I think if you are interested in what to bring then you should certainly bring everything you would want for the duration of your stay. It is very difficult to get clothes, expensive for any uk products beauty or general, and if you think it would entertain you when it rains definitely bring it. Make sure you bring plenty of good footwear and underwear, which is hard to buy good quality, and a raincoat. Let me know if ypu gave more questions!
@Charlie1985 oh I see thank you !
I will try to bring as much as I can 🤣
Not sure how much I will be allowed (KGs) I will check and see
