Healthcare in Afghanistan

Julien

Hi,

how does the healthcare system work in Afghanistan ? Is it efficient ?

What are the main differences between public and private sectors?

Is it recommended to purchase private health insurance in Afghanistan?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience !

Hi Julien,
The public health system in Afghanistan is bad.... there are some hospitals that looks worse than you can imagine. Depends where you are going... Kabul is better because.. everybody goes to Kabul, everybody donates to the hospitals from Kabul, there are all the °µÍø½ûÇøs communities...
Private system is better .. better that the public one but still terrible is you rapport it to the international standards. there are few private clinics that you trust. this private clinics are owned by °µÍø½ûÇøs and only few of them are having western staff...
the health care in Afghanistan made me cry.... yes.. that bad

You'll want an international health insurance plan.  For anything major, most °µÍø½ûÇøs fly to Dubai.  For an emergency, there is CURE or military hospitals (if you or your colleagues have connections).  Have a plan.  Afghan hospitals have too little funding, supplies, and often education.  Also beware when you are buying medication.  Try to get Iranian brands and check the expiration dates/seals on everything!  Again, I'd buy over the counters and prescriptions in UAE to stock up.
Best of luck!
