Hello, My name is Maitri. I'm a young 50's American digital nomad dating countries in SE Asia and Latin America.

A friend founded the Kaleidoscope Child Foundation which runs a school in Siem Reap. I'm going with him to check on the needs of the school after his long absence due to Covid travel restrictions. We will be in country from March 1-11th.

I would like to learn about the area, meet other 做厙輦⑹s interested in spirituality and environmental preservation, and perhaps get advice on how to do mini fundraisers in town and get more locals involved in supporting the foundation.

kaleidoscopechildfoundation.org/

If there is anything I MUST see or do while in town (without running around like a tourist), please let me know!

Its good to know but I am in Nepal.

Hi there!
My name is Danielle. I am 26, from Ireland, currently living in the UK, have also spent som years in France and Spain. I am currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. I would like to move to Cambodia with the next few months. I'm just anxious about finding employment.

Just a quick note to say hi in this forum.

I'm currently in Mexico just south of San Diego, California.

I had to leave Vietnam last June (2021) when a new visa extension became impossible due to strict enforcement of usually lax business visa regulations.

My general goal is to return to Southeast Asia by the end of 2022 for retirement.

For a few different reasons, Cambodia is now on my radar.

I'm looking forward to learning more from folks here in this forum.

Cheers!

xevisoler71

Hi all.

My name is Xevi (from UK), I've been living in Vietnam for last 5 years, but had to leave due to visa extension restrictions.

I am now in Phnom Penh, but have made a big error in NOT getting an English language version of my Vietnamese vaccination certificate. It's a big worry as I currently do not know if any airline will accept a paper certificate in Vietnamese. (To make things worse, I can no longer log in to the Vietnamese Covid app, and only have a screenshot of the green QR code...)

I'm emailing Singapore Airlines, but they just 'encouraged' me to get it translated... I don't know if this is a suggestion, or a command!

Does anyone on this forum know how I'd be able to convert the Vietnamese certificate to an English language version one that would be 100% accepted by an airline in Phnom Penh?

If its impossible, then would I need to go as far as to get a new series of vaccinations here?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

JoeKhmer

I would say go to the Vietnamese embassy and ask them for advice.

You could use the Vietnamese airline to fly.

As a last resort you could go back to Vietnam and sort it out in country.

Good luck.

Joe

Could u please co-operate me in this regard.

Hi, just a quick note to introduce myself

Been spending a lot of time in Vietnam over the past 8 years but covid has stuffed everything up. While the restrictions on the visas in Vietnam certainly haven't helped.
I would love to return to SE Asia from Australia and I have never been to Cambodia as yet. So this could be a great time to come and explore.

Cheers

Welcome to the Cambodian forum .
Youll appreciate the Visa policy here , in that you can convert to long term extension of stay for periods up to 12 months. Renewable In country.

Just make sure you tick the ORDINARY visa box on the Arrival Card圩or the VOA Visa On Arrival. Do not get the electronic Evisa online for tourist purposes,,,you can only extend those ONCE for another 30 days.

Its nice to know you can stay long term in a place. Those Visa are often referred to as retirement visa , but they are simply EOS extensions of stay. As far as Im aware ,,you cant Work on that Visa色在ut if your retired , who wants to.

Enjoy your stay .

Hello! I have been come to Cambodia since January 2019, and have spent an accumulative 20+ months in country. I started in Kampong Cham working at a locally-run children's home and have spent the last six months in Tboung Khmum at my boyfriend's family farm. Needless to say, I have barely spent any time with any other foreigners here and am looking for some camaraderie and connection!

Additionally, I am job-seeking from an online standpoint, as I would like to stay where I am currently located but I have had a very hard time finding anything (in Cambodia or USA) that will fit my schedule and abilities. Any advice?

Finally, my boyfriend and I are beginning to look into marriage documents. Does anyone know if the $2500 salary/month applies to foreign women marrying Cambodians, or does it only apply to foreign men marrying Cambodians?

Thanks!
JoeKhmer
@Serena Ankrum

The salary requirement is non existing, neither for men nor for women.

Good luck.

Do you know if there are any 做厙輦⑹s still living in Sihanoukville in 2022?My wife is Cambodian we left Asia in 2004 so that I could return to the U.S. to recieve medical care for cancer. My wife's family live near Sihanoukville. We have property here in the U.S. but are considering the idea of spending half the year in Cambodia and half in the U.S. so that we can spend time with our relatives in Sihanoukville. However I am not sure that I would like to be totally isolated from other 做厙輦⑹s 6 months of the year.

I'm Patrick ....old geezer but kind old fart. I'm a retired professional. I lived all over Thailand from 2004 to may 2021. Did volunteer aid work in Patong, Thailand immediately after the Tsunami 2005. I'm a rule follower; have no problems in 16+ yrs jumping through Thailand's ever changing rules and scams ...but I won't go back to Thailand due to Immigrations and their ever changing rules. I returned to the U.S. 17 months ago for the 1st time in 16 yrs ...only to find the U.S. now is a dang mess. At 77, I'm treated with abuse & neglect by social services, fought for a year to get my Medicare and still can't get it. America is NO place for retired old folks. I'm either moving to Philippines or Cambodia. Leaning to going to Seam Reap. Been there twice as a tourist in '05 & '08 visiting the temples ...I'm Templed out, but LOVED the food selections and various amenities of Pub Street and other venues in Siem Reap.

I live a very quiet life, seek a place on the edge of town, quiet 'n peaceful. I love to cook; enjoy good hearted friends. Don't know what others are seeking in retirement but jumping threw movable hoops 'n treated with disrespect while one is do'n volunteer work back in America ....ain't my idea of the "Golden Years." Asians are most gracious and respectful to all people especially the elderly ....I miss that mutual respect. Thus I'm packing1f600.svg

Anyone knowing a good housing area not far from Makro ...quiet, peaceful and clean ....let me know please. Tanks!!!

Blessings, Patrick

Hi Leon,

my name is Mark Devandara, and I am from Florida, USA. Planning to visit Cambodia next year. I am Indian origin, and moved from Finland to Florida. The cost of living is very high here in the South Florida now. I am retired and I am looking to move to India or to Cambodia. I was told its quite noisy in Cambodia and Vietnam. What about where you are living? I am concerned about the noise and the air quality. I would appreciate some up date on this two issues.

I have visited South India on 2019. I noticed the scouters and poor air quality.

Best regards,

Mark Devandara

Hi Bhavna,

I have been to Thailand, but not to Cambodia.

Few of my friends said its nice, beside the noise and the air quality. I dont mind to live outside of the city. I am an Indian origin, but USA citizen. First I am going visit for 2 weeks, and if I like then plan move there.

I prefer mountains , and river. I am a vegan and a none smoker or none drinker.

let me know your thoughts.

Best regards,

Mark Devandara

@Karen Smith58 Hi Karen. Perhaps if you are interested, many people meet over at Viva restaurant for breakfast. I end up going a few times a week to meet retired 做厙輦⑹ friends. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced. I have been living in SR this time for a few months. Let me know if you would like to meet for coffee. Just down the street from viva is a nice coffee shop called Temple Coffee and bakery and near there is the daily place I usually go for coffee called Noi Cafe. Also go to a few places for cold beverages during the evening. If you are staying downtown close to Pub Street or toward Angkor Wat there are some very nice restaurants. Walking is also very nice in SR with the sidewalks and bike lanes all over the city now. I walk every day by the river or down some rural streets to get away from the downtown areas. Have walked out to dirt roads to take photos of life there a few times.

You can drop me a personal message here on 做厙輦⑹.com and let me know if you'd like to meet up one day.

Take care.
