Teaching in China

daveviney

My wife and I are both qualified and experienced teachers. We are looking to teach in China for a minimum of 6 months, hopefully longer. Any advice would be appreciated.

Which subject do you and your wife teach?

daveviney

We are both TEFL qualified, my degree is in law my wife's in Nursing. Thanks for your reply.

We are interested in finding out the best way to apply for work, the cost of living, renting accommodation etc. And any other information you think may help.

Many thanks Dave & Sue

I've looked at some of the teaching positions posted here and elsewhere.  Many simply say they require that you have a bachelors degree and that you are TEFL certified.  Some don't require teaching experience.  How likely is someone to get a position teaching English without teaching experience?

I have completed all the required classes for a MAE in elementary education with the exception of student teaching.  There are very few teaching opportunities here for a new teacher and it just seemed pointless to continue on another 12 weeks with no income.  I suppose I should have gone ahead and done it anyway, but I didn't.  So I'm lacking 3 semester hours for that degree.
