Question about taxes in China - Suzhou (Jiangsu)

jncunha

I’ll be moving to Suzhou (Jiangsu) with my wife during summer. We both work at the same company.

I’ve been offered 1’000’000 CNY gross salary + 200’000 CNY bonus annually. My wife will earn 500’000 CNY gross salary + 100’000 CNY bonus annually. On top of that the company is paying housing (20’000 CNY per month), international health insurance and car with driver (I don’t know the value of the last 2 benefits).

Considering salary and bonus, what percentage will we pay, monthly, of our salaries? And what happens in the month we get the bonus? Does being married have an impact on the amount of tax we pay? The company will apply so we don’t pay for social security in China.

Also, I read somewhere that companies can choose to tax a salary progressively throughout the year (less taxes in January and more in December) or to fix a tax percentage for every month. Is this true?

Thanks for the help!
