Recruitment agencies

khaoula Bellam

Hey there! I'm moving to China in August to teach English. I got hired by a recruitment agency, but they told me that my first month's salary will be theirs. Is it normal?  If anyone have any information to provide me, please don't hesitate

As another teacher who is using a recruitment agency right now ,I would say find another recruiter. There are good ones and bad ones. The good ones are paid by the schools directly to find good teachers and they will not charge you anything for their services.I too talked to a re ruiter who wanted a portuon of salary it is very much a way to rip off foreigners.

Hi, I’m not sure that’s normal. I’ll be heading to shanghai in September and it’s all been arranged through a recruiter. They haven’t asked me for a penny and have been really helpful. If you want to contact me I can give you their details.

But I would never be giving a months salary away if I were you.

Can I get that agency’s info. I’m looking for a position. I’m currently working with EF First. Have you heard of them.

So far I haven't heard of any recruiting agencies taking money like that. You might want to check with them again or find another agency. It's easier for native speakers to find job. Also if you are interested I can ask one of my friend.

Hello, I am a teacher recruiter. I have over 50 schools all over China. You can contact me if interested.

Practically, the agency won't charge teachers but schools, schools pay the recruitment expenses to agencies. I thought you have met a bad one, so please change to another agency and ask for engagement conditions in advance.
