not so good

kaixi27

I've been in GZ for maybe 2 weeks and in that time the school has made us move house three times! one place was a studio appartment with the kitchen and toilet in same room. The school isn't aircon and I don't trust them anymore, I have brought my 2yo with me and I am starting to feel very guilty for bringing him here when we had a good routine and life in Aus. I just seem to be coming across more and more issues with this school and they insist on cutting more and more corners. Any advice? I'm really stuck and running out of money.

Thanks for your help.

hi kaixin
im sorry to hear about that.
i hope your child is fine. dont feel guilty. im sure your child knows u are good parent. take it easy.
i think the best way is negocitation with your school. did u have a contract with the school. how about the apartment term in your contract? does it have specific descrip about the apartment?
good luck

Yes, I have been trying to negotiate this past week, until I said I can't stay they found me a new appartment as per the contract last night,I have just taken our baggage to the house, I still haven't had time to buy things like cooking stuff or proper sheets. I found Chinese sleep on very hard mattresses, or more like mats.

What's also really hard, more than what I expected, is that they have ripped up all the roads in Huang Pu district ready to lay new roads and they place is dusty, dirty and dirt plus pollution is making me cough something horrible. Also haven't seen many white ppl out here lol! Feel a bit isolated.

Anyway there's a pool with my unit so I'll be going swimming I think, if it's really clean and not too many ppl!

Language barrier is difficult but I learnt some chinese before coming so directions or prices or numbers or I have found I can read things that I can't say so that definately helps! My son is in the same Kindy I'm working at and he cried when I said good bye but has since settled down otherwise Iwould have been able to hear him from my office lol! It's really easy to be able to come to work and drop your child off in his classroom and walk down the hall to my office hehehe! plus chinese provide food so I don't have to pack anything, although today it was sweet soy milk and a sweet sponge cake for breakfast.....I will buy fruit I think to take tomorrow.

:) that fine. it seems u accept your new apartment. good to heat that. i hope you have free time to buy cooking and other stuff. i have no idea about the mattress. i think thats depends . some people like soft but other like hard. but we think hard is good for health.

i guess they wanna rebuild the road for asian game. wanna it looks better. huangpu district is a little far form downtown. so there dont have many foreigners. i have been to there twince. very far from my place. there has a foreign ship compnay maybe belong to grace or other country. have some foreign staffs.

happy to know u dont have language problem. if the pool is belong to your university it should be clean. how old is your son? i m sure he is a cute boy. i like children. hoep he likes live in china. good news that your university offer foods. but im not sure they are free. sometimes they charge at the bottom of month or when they give u salary they cut the food.

enjoy your time
