Trading NYCcSkyscrapers for Harmony: Is Shanghai the Right Move?

DrPolo

Can you honestly tell me if living and working in Shanghai is worthwhile? As an MD/PhD with my own research laboratory in NYC, I'm finding it increasingly challenging to live and work in post pandemic NYC for various reasons. However, after attending a conference in Suzhou, I fell in love with Chinese culture, the kindness of the people, and the peaceful atmosphere - a stark contrast to the fast-paced and often overwhelming environment of NYC.

I'm seriously considering exploring job opportunities in Shanghai. What's life really like there? Do you ever feel stuck or limited? Are there any significant lifestyle changes or sacrifices I should be aware of, such as relinquishing my passport?

No need to reliquish passport when you work in Shanghai. It is better to learn some Chinese language if you would like to work long-term and enjoy life here in Shanghai
