Moving to Xiamen in August!

Hello! I am a Portuguese student in England and as part of my degree I will have 1 year abroad in Xiamen, I am super excited! I will be going with my boyfriend who is an English teacher... My campus is in Xiang'an and we are looking for a place to rent that can be in between campus and the Xiamen island. Anyone has any tips?? Thank you!!

If your boyfriend is employed in China (that is my assumption based on what your wrote), then he can ask for help at his school. They will be very willing to provide you guys help.

In China, it is ALWAYS better to work and network with locals. This flies into conventional thought prevalent in the West; use the Internet and APPs to navigate around. There are hundreds of Chinese APPs that you can use, of course...but...

But... needing help is a great way to make friends and see first hand to adapt and adjust to a new cultures. Don't squander it.

Thank you!! And yes, they will help us especially when we get there providing a hotel while we are still looking for somewhere more permanent. I just thought it would be better to ask someone who already knows the area to see if it is possible to have a place near the campus in Xiang'an but still close to the centre (he doesn't know yet in which school he will be teaching). Absolutely agree and can't wait to engage in conversations with the locals and get to know Xiamen!
