That's just horrible - at least 4 dead reported

Good to hear you're OK Fred (not a good time to go wandering), and hope all is well with Luke and the others in JKT.

Here in Bali we are sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Hi guys

All is well with me and my family. My wife works near Senayan City, not too far, not too close to the explosions and her office is in lock down and she is safe.

Julien

thanks for letting us know you're ok guys. Stay safe.

Fred

A few are dead, some injured, and a lot of people are worried about family members.
I've seen kids crying out of fear of more possible attacks, and worry about their parents being close to this.
I really can't understand these people.
We have a world full of flood, famine, disease and so many other disasters, but these fools feel the need to create more misery than there already is.
The human cost is far greater than we see on the news.
I'm angry.

Julien

I can't agree more with you Fred  :(

It is a shocking and tragic day.

I frequent the place quite regularly. To think that a brazen attack on an open public place with police post station targeted is really unreal.

The warning is that there will be "konser" (literal meaning concert), aka suicide runs ongoing in Indonesia. For the next few months, it pays to stay alert.

Indonesia has suddenly become a much more dangerous place and the most dangerous places are Jakarta and Bali. Other smaller cities and towns should be safer for the moment. It is a tragic day although fortunately those terrorists today seemed fairly amateur so there were not to many casualties. Hopefully the police can torture some useful information our of the two terrorists that survived.

If what they say on the news is true about Daesh issuing a challenge to see who in Southeast Asia can represent them the best, then things will not be good, not only in Indonesia but probably in Thailand, Malaysia etc.

Fred

If history repeats, the Indonesian government will now kick in the front door of everyone on their list of suspects, blasting anyone who resists arrest.
I recall the police actions after the hotel bomb of some years ago, hoping D88 are let loose again.
Good hunting lads, and stay safe.

“If history repeats, the Indonesian government will now kick in the front door of everyone on their list of suspects, blasting anyone who resists arrest.”

That is exactly what will happen Fred…based on past events.

By all accounts, the security forces did a superb job getting on top of this attack in a very timely and courageous manner.  They were impressive to say the least.

I'd like to make a correction on the above. I was out of the country for a while and didn't realise that there were 2 bomb blasts in Bandung not long ago.
