Tokyo as a student city!

Anne-Lise Mty

Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. Not sure if you've heard but Tokyo has been ranked second best student city in the world by Quacquarelli Symonds! We have, therefore, featured a piece in our °µÍø½ûÇø mag about Tokyo and why international students should definitely consider this vibrant city! You can find it here: Is Tokyo becoming the number one student hub?

Please do not hesitate to add to what has been written to help out any students looking for info or insights out there!

Have a great rest of the week you all :)

Hello Anne-Lise and welcome to the Forum.

Tokyo is indeed one of the leading destinations for foreign students, not only because so many people love to come here to explore but because many Japanese Universities either offer exchange programs with universities and colleges in other countries but also offer plenty of scholarships for those wishing to study in an Asian environment.

You need only to visit any of Tokyo's many Tourist Information centres that are scattered all over the city and you will see foreign students working there offering advice to tourists and being able to speak other languages.

For example, when I was last there, the Tourist Information Center at the top end of Takeshita Street in Harajuku employed a European student and a Taiwanese student amongst others who could offer advice to tourists from many countries in their own mother tongue.
