Resignation during EP renewal

What happens when someone resignes during EP renewal. Notice period is 3 months and EP expirs in 1 month. Will they continue with EP renewal and then shorten it or they will stop the renewal and release when EP expires.

EP renewal is already in process.

@debo11 Apply the new EP first than ESD will request cancel previous pass once stage approval. U need to deal with the current company for the working contract.

I forgot to mention the person wants to resign and leave malaysia. He wants to know if usually company renew EP or they just continue with existing EP and release when EP expires ( or may b get a special pass for remaining notice period )

He is leaving Malaysia. But his existing EP will expire in one month and his notice period is 3 months. So if he resigned now will he be asked to leave within a month or they wil still renew the EP and ask him to cover the notice period.

I know it probably depends on company but wanted to know usually how it is.
