Cost of living in Malaysia in 2024

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

As every year, we invite you to share your experience regarding the cost of living in Malaysia, and if possible, in the specific region or city where you live. This will help members who are planning to relocate in Malaysia.

Here are some points to guide you; the idea is to provide average prices for each category:

When it comes to housing, what is the cost of renting or buying an apartment or house in Malaysia?

How much do you pay for public transports such as buses, subways, trains, trams, or taxis?

Could you share the average monthly cost of your grocery shopping?

What is the cost of health insurance? How much does a medical consultation cost in Malaysia?

What are the tuition fees for children?

What are the average monthly costs for electricity, gas, water, internet, and phone plans?

For leisure activities, how much does it cost monthly?

If there are other expenses you find relevant, please feel free to share them!

Thank you for your contribution.

Look at that! No replies here. Sure the rising prices drove people straight out!

Hi dearest

I will reply. It is on my to do list. I just need to check my bank statements (as I bank with 4 banks) BUT YES, I AM KEEN TO GIVE MY PERSONAL RESPONSE.

However, my breakdown will be from 16 October 2023, as a new 做厙輦⑹. Sort of including mistakes, wins and lessons learnt

I love your site.

Bless

My dear friends and co-做厙輦⑹ colleagues,

Looking at the last couple of pitiful responses, I am driven to respond to help out! But I hesitate, despite having been an 做厙輦⑹ here for many years.

I have helped other 做厙輦⑹s who have asked for SPECIFIC information. There is no difficulty with that.

But, to be fair, if you look closely at the suggested range of items suggested, any reply from anyone will have to be based on a PERSONAL lifestyle - not a GENERAL basis. My lifestyle in terms of where I live, what car I own, how many family members I support, whether I am vegetarian, what job I do, the hours of work I do, how far my office is from home, what holidays I go on, what leisure facilities I use etc, is a very PERSONAL matter; of what relevance will that be to any one else? Of course, an item of expenditure such as the price expenditure such as the price of a litre of petrol or the fare on public transport will be easily available on Google.
So, may I respectfully suggest that the way in which information is requested in future is well thought out so that people will feel enthusiastic about replying.

Please consider.
I shall include myself on the list of anyone who plans to reply.

Best wishes - and Happy Chinese New Year to those who celebrate!
