Check on Glassdoor and You don't mention what kind of engineer.

Malaysia is not like the middle east where there are lots of foreign professionals in jobs here. This is because the local workforce is well educated and active (there is unemployment due to international companies pulling out and relocating - get the picture....).

IT is the most actively recruited sector from India. Not much else available to foreigners, except in construction in Johor, but they would be quite junior positions as there are plenty of local engineers who need to speak local languages to operate in the sector.

Hi Asnaf,

A sewing machine repair engineer in Malaysia probably might expect a salary of around Rm3,500 per month.

A Petroleum Engineer with 8 years experience with an American or European oil company or a Schlumberger engineer might expect a salary of around US$15,000 per month with housing, car and medical insurance.

Thanks Abdullkhalil  for ur help
But I suppose sewing machine repair is not done by engineers it's done by technicians.
I don't think a B tech degree holder would repair sewing machines.
Thanks for ur reply

A technician may have a degree in engineering and you didn't mention B Tech degree holder in your first request for information. Obviously salaries are dependent on the kind of engineering.

So, what kind of engineering? It may give us a better understanding. Also do you specifically want to work in Malaysia or are you also considering any other country in Asia?

Asnafurqan

Me n my husband both have master of technology degree in electronics Engineering
We r considering Malaysia right now
Thanks for the information.

My friend is a Japanese and working for Sony in Kuala Lumpur. He is only a technician I think but he is quite senior n the department testing TV's. His wife is one of my wife's best friends and our kids and their kids are also good friends. I do not know his salary but he gets housing allowance of Rm4500 per month and schooling for his two children. He works very long hours and I think he will be transferred back to Japan later this year. There was a chance that he was going to be transferred to the UK but that is no longer the case. If either you or your wife are fluent Japanese speakers I am more than happy to recommend you. However, I worry that you may be overqualified.
