Arrival in Malaysia for marriage

varrock

While waiting to hear back from the embassy, I was hoping to get some more thoughts here. I'm a UK citizen. My work visa expired earlier this year after I had gone back to the UK to renew it & my passport (and as a consequence had bad timing with the pandemic, so have been here since). My long term partner and I have since become engaged and I'm hoping to arrive in Malaysia as soon as possible to register our marriage and apply for a long term pass.

My question is if anyone knows if there might be some sort of approval or pass for purposes of marriage during the movement order? My understanding is that before the pandemic I would simply arrive on a tourist pass which I'm guessing would be impossible now. I see a Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity is required now, but is that only usable for work visas/mm2h?

Thoughts would be welcomed. Thank you.

Hi Varrock,

Welcome to °µÍø½ûÇø and congratulations on your engagement. :)

There is a new article in the Malaysia guide that might be of interest to you : /en/guide/asia/mal … aysia.html .

I hope that other members can also share their experience with you very soon.

Thanks,

Hi,

I’m just bumping this thread to anyone who has the information regarding the inquiry of OP. I’m kind of in the same boat, looking for information regarding this as I’m outside Malaysia right now but looking to process my marriage with my Malaysian fiancée. Thank you in advance!

Thank you Boabert for the suggestion as I was not aware this might be possible for common law partners. I was given contact by the embassy for the relevant immigration department in Malaysia, so will email them and keep my fingers crossed.

First, you have to be aware that UK citizens are not allowed entry right now, along with 22 other countries starting 7 Sept. You have to delay plans and keep abreast of changes, none of which are expected this year. Follow this on Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia on facebook.
