Arriving in KL soon....

fmg

Hello All,

Please allow me to request all to give me recommendation on nice clean mid-range ($40 to $50) hotel in Bukit Bintang area. I am looking for hotel for two person to stay for four nights . I went through Agoda and found some good ones but when reading reviews, gives me mixed feelings! I like to be close to Monorail or LRT (no more than 4 to 5 mins walk.
Is KL Sentral area okay to stay?(as a second option)
Also any suggestion how to spend 4 days in KL. By the way, I will be arriving in KL on Dec 02. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Hi welcome to Malaysia.

In Bukit Bintang, there are parkroyal hotel, federal hotel, berjaya time square hotel and sky hotel is good place to stay.

In KL sentral, u may consider Aloft Hotel (very nice new hotel) or Hilton Hotel.

Have a good trip.

By the way, which country u come from?

Regards,
Ivy

Thank you 'stumpy' for your suggestion. I have checked Agoda.com.

Thank you 'seehuy'; Most of the hotels you have recommended are a bit high category.
I am coming from USA and we will be spending 26 days in Malaysia but not all at KL. I will be going to different places like, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore and Penang respectively (in that order).
Because of the length of the trip, I have to stay within my budget. So looking for mid-range hotels in all those places but with good reviews.
Thanks to all

Thank you Gravitas....

I shall check on this Guest House.
The cheaper rate is for dorm users. The rooms with private bathroom are at higher price, which is okay for me.
I am not sure how close this one is from any of the MRT or LRT.
I shall call them up and find out. Thanks again.

It is closest to Raja Chulan and Bukit Bintang Monorail Stations - about a 7 - 8 minute stroll.

There is no MRT - it has not been built yet.  The nearest LRT is at Dang Wangi - which is one stop along from Raja Chulan on the Monorail and a short connection walk. It's good to take the Monorail from end to end to see the city. It costs next to nothing (as does all public transport here).

Everything you will probably want to visit is within about a 15-20 minute walk from the Guest House e.g. China Town (LRT=Pasar Seni), Twin Towers (LRT=KLCC), etc. But walking is the best way to enjoy KL.

The rooms are small but modern and clean. I see their white sheets hanging out to dry and everything is well maintained.  Better than most in this category and well worth trying out and saving some money.

If you want some advice about accommodation on Penang and Langkawi, let me know. Also about where to eat in KL to avoid most of the tourist traps......

There is also the GO KL free bus and the nearest stop is again about 7-8 minute easy walk away at Stop No. 7 (Line 1) or Stop No. 10 (Line 2) both outside the Boustead Building on Jalan Raja Chulan.

Don't confuse it with the Hop-on-Hop-off Bus.... That stops about a 3 minute walk away from the Guest House....

I would not suggest you stay anywhere near Sentral Station as although interesting for a visit it is a bit of a strange area, especially after dark (and it get's dark at 7.30 p.m.)

Thank you Gravitas...
I was not aware of GO KL. I knew about 'Hop on Hop off' service.
I have checked the Guest House and very impressed with it.
I will call them directly to get info on a room with attached bathroom.
Thank you for your offer for advise for good food places. I like to get some recommendations.
Please also let me know of Langkwai (Pantai Cenang area)and Penang.
I will be travelling to Penang (last leg of my trip) by Train and cross the water by Ferry. But my Parents in law will join me for the last leg and they are not so mobile and so walking will be very very restricted and so are the staircases. If you have done this trip, please let me know the walking distance from Butterworth Train station to Ferry terminal. I like to stay there for 4 days in TG Bungah or Batu Feringi area.
Once again thanks to all who are dedicated reader of this forum and help so many inquisitive people.

On Langkawi - if you want a reasonably priced hotel look at Fave at Cenang.

Right now there is a building construction site on the opposite corner to Summerview Hotel. Check out their photos on website and look for the blue plastic site screening in the background.
