Reference visa for Employment pass stage 1

Hi
Iam an Indian, Recently got an offer in a IT company and they asked me to get a reference visa from embassy inorder to apply for employment pass stage 1.

My question is whether I need to travel to my home country (India) to collect the reference visa or can get the reference visa from Indian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

How long it takes to provide the reference visa because the company gave me a week of time to provide the documents.
So please someone guide me on how the process takes and how long it takes and how much it cost

This is not the legal way.

First employer gets work permit approval and authorisation for you to collect the visa with reference.

Don't enter Malaysia on a tourist or e-visa because cannot convert to a work visa.

You put yourself at risk if not doing the right process because many Indians have ended up being deported and banned for overstaying without work visa approval.

I am already married to PR of Malaysia and staying in spouse visa for past 1.5 years and having a baby.

It sounds like the company think you want to give up your LTSVP and change to Employment Pass when you really just need Permission to Work approval

I'm also sorry to say their offer might not be serious to give you an impossible task. I've seen it many times done this way instead of just saying no they can't employ you.
