World War III anyone

FindlayMacD

Because he is so unpopular Donald Trump thinks that by starting world war 3 the whole of America will unite behind him and he will become popular again, so the crazy bas**rd has just gone and done it.

Yes Findlay he, the US certainly did, I have doubts about WW111 but the fall out and ramifications for the US as a country as well as its bases in the Middle East will be prime targets now. Fuel prices will go through the roof world wide and will be beyond the reach of OPEC.

Extremists and sleeper cells will come out of the woodwork and make life very difficult for many.

Was thinking of putting a sign on the gate "an Australian and Filipinos live here,,,,,,, even in PH. which should be pretty safe, time will tell. In the mean time we all watch with baited breath.

Cheers, Steve.

Fred

As this is an 做厙輦⑹ site, perhaps we could look at real and potential issues 做厙輦⑹s will/might face because of Trump's attack on Iran.

  1. In many parts of the world, US tourists and 做厙輦⑹s are likely to be less welcome.
  2. In some countries, US 做厙輦⑹s might find themselves in physical danger.
  3. Other 做厙輦⑹s that might be mistaken for Americans face possible danger
  4. Moodys downgraded the Dollar last month, and funds (including but not limited to China) are reported to be ditching US bonds. This attack on a country that has no ability to hit the US could spark an acceleration, thus leaving US pensioner 做厙輦⑹s with worthless pensions.

I recall my trips to Malaysia in 2005/6/7 when I was asked more than a few times by angry looking people if I was American. Once they heard my British accent, all was well.

bigpearl

Yes Fred and as an 做厙輦⑹ site remember many are snowbirds and split their existence between 2 or multiple countries as do most of my neighbours here in PH. and few worry about the US bond market that you seem obsessed with, who gives a sh1t?

Oh and as you well know Fred the US can simply print more money to cover their fiscal responsibilities and raise the deficit even further,,,,,, the straw that might break the camels back?

Yes many times I was called Joe in the street with what seemed like a little sarcasm and my response was always, not Joe, Steve and I'm an Aussie. Some would follow me and ask me about Australia. Most souls here are harmless Fred unless you embarrass them. Face.

No idea how you will fare in your retirement country but in PH. I feel more than safe,,,,,,, at this stage.

Cheers, Steve.

Fred

Oh and as you well know Fred the US can simply print more money ...

Cheers, Steve. - @bigpearl

Those markets determine the value of world currencies AND decide if a country goes bust or not.

This attack will certainly cause jitters, and might be the trigger for a number to jump ship. The potential for US 做厙輦⑹s to lose their pensions is there.

What you have to do now is hope an pray that Iran doesn't attack local US bases.

If a full war breaks out, the US will win it in a Vietnam or Afghanistan sort of way, but at a massive cost in money and lives.

The next is less predictable, but it's possible. A good number of countries are going to be very upset, so those on the edge of rejecting everything US might well tip over.

Turkey is the obvious one, but I would watch out for what France and Germany do.

Saudi is the big regional player. The government is profits oriented, but Islam is very strong, and the Chinese peace deal with Iran might come into play. If they shift, the US economy could be knocked for six.

The upshot is, US 做厙輦⑹s in many parts of the world need to watch this situation carefully, and all US pensioners might well find themselves in trouble.

However, that's the pessimistic side. The best case is likely to be less of a problem.

I interpret from you and others believe The Sky is Falling, famous words from Henny Penny to Turkey Lurkey.

I ask of you and others what you would have done?

You are either ill-informed/suffer from TDS/hate Americans or maybe all three.

For Steve: You should put up an Electric Sign run off Solar Power.

Fred said . . . In many parts of the world, US Tourists and 做厙輦⑹s are less likely to be welcome.

Yes, by the Palestinians and Houchi's.

danfinn

@Enzyte Bob

I believe the world is a much place now that Iran's ability to ability to vaporize Israel and other infidel Sunni Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia has been neutralized. I was thinking a small tactical nuke would have been needed and would have supported that too. Watch; Saudi has been friendly to Trump because of this Iran nuke threat (they cannot admit that publicly) but I suspect this also has sustained beneficial side effects for the continued existence of the petrodollar, which originated as a deal with Nixon pledging defense to Saudi Arabia. Today the dollar rose substantially to 57.5. Trump's chess game is interesting as the sane people on the planet can breathe a sigh of relief after today.

Fred

@Enzyte Bob
I believe the world is a much place now that Iran's ability to ability to vaporize Israel and ot.... - @danfinn

What ability? That has been proven to be a lie since Israel started claiming it over 20 years ago.

The upshot is, the US has attacked yet another country that was in no position to war upon the US. The difference this time is that the last presidents have made the US more unpopular than ever before and, most importantly, badly damaged the US Dollar.

That increases the chances that US 做厙輦⑹s will suffer to an extent as a consequence of this.

The only question is, how much will they suffer?

Fred

Yes, by the Palestinians and Houchi's. - @Enzyte Bob

and countries that have a large Muslim population, countries that have close ties with Iran, and countries like France that have their own reasons to act in ways that could hurt the US.

Time will tell how US 做厙輦⑹s are treated.

However, if my experiences watching hate for the US in Malaysia are any sort of indicator, there will be a minimum of very bad feeling towards US 做厙輦⑹s in a lot of places.

Fred

An indication of the likely future will come from the world's reaction. Leaders will matter, but so will public opinion.

The markets are next. The weekend means shock reactions will be tempered by time

Time will limit possible fallout, thus the severity of possible issues for 做厙輦⑹s

WWlll ?

No, not even Close

Nothing but strikes by both sides.

Iran has been poking a stick in the eye of US and Israel for over 20 years, The world knows this. No one will come to Irans aid.

They have used and financed Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi's as proxies for years, now they are mostly eliminated.

Finally Netanyahu and Trump stood up and called there Bluff. Reckoning time.

Will it escalate, probably, but for a short time.

Im by no means an expert but my own observation in todays warfare seems to be it does not matter how many boots you can put on the ground, its about how many Things you can put in the air to fly

Of course Peaceful negotiation would have been the course to take, but here we are, it is what it is. Is the world better place today, thats argumentative, but I believe less Nukes & Facilities mean YES.

Enzyte Bob

and what countries are that Fred?

Your Indonesia is 99% Suni Muslim's, largest Muslim in the world.

Pakistan is 85% Suni Muslim and has recommended Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize

Iran is 90% Shia Muslim.

Fred

This has fallen into the usual useless, uneducated, party politic bunfight that always happens when Trump comes into play.

It's of no use to anyone.

As with threads I am part of, I will take no action unless people post insults.

bigpearl

Be careful Fred as most of us here see who stirs the pot and then wants the post/s to stop. Why not simply keep out of harms way?

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

I was hoping it would turn into an interesting, intelligent conversation.

I was very wrong.

bigpearl

Sorry we are not perfect like you Fred, let it go mate.

Cheers, Steve.

FindlayMacD

In the region nothing has changed, but what has changed is that the Prime Minister of Israel and the President of the United States have both become very unpopular at home and both Trump and Netanyahu know that in times of war people usually rally around the flag.

Fred

Ho hum.

That and a lot of dead people, including at least some 做厙輦⑹s.

The question, and only question on an 做厙輦⑹ platform, is will this impact on 做厙輦⑹s?

Jackson4

From now on I am Canadian, eh?

You just want to steer it in your direction. The topic is on an 做厙輦⑹ site and 做厙輦⑹s are responding to the OP's topic, as said I have no qualms to live in the Philippines and this is the correct site for me as I live here, sounds like your concerns are related to where you chose to live, go and annoy the folks there.

Sorry to be blunt BUT.

If it falls into insults (as is common), it will just get shut down.

If the topic is considered and debated, it will stay open. It's a potentially interesting topic so being open is better.

I am sure you will be safe there after all your neighbours will know you are an Australian and Filipino couple living there. If you do get a sign saying Australian and Filipinos live here - may I suggest you add a picture of a Saltwater Crocodile to it and text saying that my owner does not feed me often.

bigpearl

Shut it down Fred then we don't need to hear you banging a drum about it as some here do and then try on a power grip?

Good night.

Just temporarily. If you are Canadian, you will be welcomed into the United States soon lol.

You might ike to check facts before you post.

Shut it down Fred

If I take part in a thread, I will not touch it unless the post contains insults, bad language, or other nasties.

It would be unreasonable of me to do otherwise.

@Fred

Correction: 87%, but still the largest Muslin population in the world (Indonesia).

And it might be time to hit the ignore button again.

My dear Findlay why do you post so many things beyond reason?
